To help prevent accidents
and disease in the workplace worldwide, The International Labour Organization (MOT) celebrates World Day of Labor Protection.

This awareness campaign aims to draw public attention to health and safety issues
and an increase in the number of injuries, illnesses and deaths, related
with work activity. Governments in all regions of the world, trade union organizations, employers' organizations organize events for World.

In June 2022 participants of the International Labor Conference (ICT) decided to include the issue of a safe and healthy working environment in the body of fundamental principles and rights
in the world of work ILO.

All Member States, even if they have not ratified said conventions, make a commitment, conscientiously observe, promote and implement
principles, relating to fundamental rights, which are the subject of these conventions.

The fundamental principles and rights at work are:

  • freedom of association and effective recognition of the right
    for collective bargaining;
  • abolition of all forms of forced labor;
  • effective prohibition of child labor;
  • non-discrimination in the field of work and occupation;
  • occupational safety and health.

 

HISTORY OF THE HOLIDAY

 

The first event was held by unions and workers in the United States and Canada in 1989 year. In this way, they honored the memory of colleagues, killed in the workplace. The problem has become relevant for many countries.. Ten years later, similar actions were held
Worldwide, in over a hundred countries.

IN 2003 year International Labor Organization (MOT) proposed to celebrate this day officially. Today it is celebrated
175 countries, including the Republic of Belarus.

Every year the festival is held under a certain slogan..
IN 2022 year it sounded like "Optimization of labor protection and the future of this area".

Round tables are held on this day, Exhibitions, conferences, forum, dedicated to topical issues of labor protection.
