Long awaited summer! Some children go to the village to rest, другие – going to a health camp, where they are waiting for exciting walks through the forest, other interesting places, swimming in a river or lake, sunbathing, sport games, campfire fun, meeting the dawn, etc.. To all this and above all, adults prepare for the safe rest of children for a long time. And one of the most important events was – inspection of the entire territory of the camp and its surroundings for the presence of ticks, and, if necessary, the processing of the entire territory for their destruction. But it is almost impossible to destroy ticks even in a single region., because. they are very durable, quickly move to a “safe” place for them and actively breed. And to protect yourself from their attack and not spoil the summer vacation at the health camp, children and their parents, camp staff should be aware of ticks, their habits, features, and, if necessary, know what to do and how to get rid of stuck ticks.

WHO ARE IKSODID TICKS AND WHAT DANGER THEY PRESENT FOR HUMANS?

Ticks are most often found in mixed forests., in the thickets of alder, hazel, raspberry, as well as on clearings, forest edges with shrubs. Can live in wet meadows with high herbage, especially along rivers and lakes. These small arthropods feed on the blood of animals., sticking to their skin from several minutes to several days. During this time, their body greatly increases in size.. Ticks do not fly or jump. Waiting for their prey, swinging on the branches of bushes, tall blades of grass. When the animal passes, touching branches and grass, ticks attach to it. Attached and transferred to a person as well, when it enters their natural habitats. Ticks can transmit pathogens to humans, such as, eg, Lyme disease (tick-borne borreliosis) or tick-borne encephalitis. Not every tick, but only 5 – 8% of which are infected with the pathogen. However, timely measures should be taken to prevent the disease.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SICK TICKS

Sending children on a summer vacation to the countryside or to a health camp, parents should also take care of their clothes for walking in the forest, trips for berries, to reduce the possibility of ticks crawling under it. For proper equipment for such walks, you need, to:
trousers were tucked into boots, stockings or socks with a tight elastic band; shirt, jacket tucked into pants, and the cuffs of the sleeves fit snugly to the arm; desirable, that shirts and trousers do not have fasteners, or had zippers, under which ticks cannot crawl; hair must be tucked under a hat or scarf, even better to cover your head with a hood.

Planning a collective hike in the forest, health camp educators should study the route in advance and, if possible, explore the territory of the upcoming walk.
Do not allow walking alone into the forest and separation from the general group during the hike. During the hike, move along the middle of the forest road, trying not to touch the branches hanging over it, grass. It is not recommended to climb into thickets of shrubs without special need. (raspberry, alder, hazel, etc.).
Don't go into tall grass.

Choose the right place to stay, picnic. In the woods, on the shore of the reservoir, dry open glades are preferred, well warmed by the sun, with sandy soil or plots, devoid of herbaceous vegetation.
Carry out regular- and mutual examination of clothing and skin, every 1-2 hours while walking in the forest. Gotta remember, that ticks attach to
clothes and always crawl up. On plain clothes, ticks are more visible.

Coming back from the forest:
inspect all clothing and body for crawling or sucking ticks;
comb thick hair comb;
inspect things, brought from the forest.

HOW TO PROCEED IN THE EVENT OF SUCKING TICKS?

If, during or after a hike in the forest or at other times, the tick is all- still sucked on the body, then you must immediately contact the medical center of the health camp, but never act on your own.
The bug should be removed as soon as possible. The longer it stays stuck, the more likely it is to infect a person. Tick removal is best done in a medical facility. – in a traumatological or surgical room or in the medical block of a summer recreation facility.

RULES FOR REMOVING A TICKE WITH:

STERILE (INCINED) иглы ПИНЦЕТА

The tick must be captured as close to the proboscis as possible.. Then it is carefully pulled out, rotating around its axis in a convenient direction. Usually through 1-3 turnover, the tick is removed entirely along with the proboscis. If you try to pull out the tick, there is a high probability of its rupture.. Do not press on the abdomen, while squeezing its contents together with pathogens into the wound is possible

COTTON THREADS

She is tied in a knot, as close to the proboscis as possible.
Twisting the ends of the thread with a circular motion, remove the tick, slowly pull it up. Abrupt movements are unacceptable
After removing the tick, the skin at the site of its suction is treated with tincture of iodine or alcohol..
When removing a tick, do not use oils, oily creams, which clog his respiratory openings and provoke an additional release of pathogens into the human blood.
What to do after tick removal?
After removal, the doctor should prescribe prophylactic treatment, which must be taken strictly according to the scheme.
If signs of illness appear, you should immediately consult a doctor and remind him of the tick bite that has taken place during the last month..
Parents, children and educators of summer health camps should remember, that following these recommendations will make children's summer holidays safe, joyful, useful and memorable for years to come!
