Summer season – это время купаний и ныряний. Despite, that diving into the water is incredibly spectacular, do not forget about safety.
The so-called "diver's injury" that occurs when the head hits the bottom of the reservoir is accompanied by damage to the cervical vertebrae and spinal cord, as a result of which the arms and legs stop working, dysfunction of the pelvic organs. In very rare cases, their function is restored, but, most often leads to disability.
Diver injury occurs in young people up to 35 years.
Each of us can witness such a tragic event., so it's important to know, how to give first aid to the victim before the arrival of doctors.
What to do immediately:
- remove the victim from the water. He needs to be picked up, turn your back to yourself and pull ashore. At the same time, one must follow, to keep the head and neck of the victim motionless. It is strictly forbidden to pull a person by the hair - this can aggravate damage to the spine and spinal cord;
- call an ambulance;
- lay the victim down on a flat hard surface. You can use a plastic or wooden deck chair, door, boards;
- ensure the immobility of the cervical spine;
- provide first aid. It provides for the cleansing of the mouth from sand, water, vomit. If the person is not breathing, chest compressions should be performed, artificial respiration.
Prevention:
- be careful, especially when outdoors.
- Choose your swimming pool carefully.
- Never swim or dive while intoxicated.
- If you really want to dive head first, then do it in a specially equipped area, not in natural (even well-known!) reservoirs.
