FROM 1992 of the year in the Republic of Belarus, like all over the world, annually 1 October is Senior Citizens' Day.
Elderly People's Day is aimed at recognizing the importance and necessity of an elderly person in public life..

December 2020 The Government of the Republic of Belarus approved the National Strategy “Active Longevity – 2030”, which defines the main directions of state policy in the interests of older citizens.
Period 2021-2030 yy. proclaimed by the United Nations as the Decade of Healthy Aging.
The key factor, determining the lifestyle and quality of life of older people, their ability to participate in the processes of socio-economic development of the country, is their health status.
The priority areas of the healthcare system to maintain active longevity of citizens are improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services, focused on the needs of older citizens:
- Taking into account the needs of older citizens in the Republic of Belarus, a course has been taken to create a geriatric service. In d. has been operating in Minsk for over twenty years, created on a regular basis, city geriatric center. The structure of the city geriatric center includes a psychologist’s office and a telephone “information line” (t. 258-58-15).
- Providing medical care to older people is provided by all health care organizations without age restrictions. Older people are examined annually by a general practitioner, geriatrician. If necessary, for examination of elderly citizens, specialist doctors are involved.
- In d. Minsk organized the provision of palliative care to disabled people and single elderly citizens at the State Institution “Hospice Palliative Care Hospital”, employees of the visiting patronage service of this institution, as well as in nursing departments.
- A system of interaction between medical services of social service institutions and territorial health care institutions has been built.
