For Parents on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse against Minors

Sexual abuse is the involvement of a child, with or without his consent, in sexual activities with adults for the purpose of obtaining pleasure or benefit for the latter..
The consent of the child to sexual contact does not give grounds to consider it non-violent, since the child does not have free will and cannot foresee all the negative consequences for himself.
Parents should pay attention to the following features in the behavior of the child, that may indicate sexual abuse against him:
– sudden withdrawal, depression, insulation, withdrawal;
– an intense reaction of fear or disgust at the physical proximity of a particular adult;
– child refusing to undress, to hide bruises and wounds on the body;
– demonstrating "adult" behavior, interest in sex;
– the child spends a lot of time in the family of friends, classmates, neighbors, does not want to go home after school;
– absenteeism in an educational institution, sudden change in performance.

You can avoid violence, but for this it is necessary to help the child learn "Rule of Five Don'ts":

– You can not talk to strangers on the street and let them into the house.
– Do not enter the entrance with strangers, elevator, forest and other uninhabited places.
– You can't get into someone else's car.
– Don't accept gifts from strangers (candies, ice cream, toys, etc.) and agree to their offer to go to their house or somewhere else.
– Can't be held on the street alone, especially after dark.

Build with your child warm, trusting relationship! Often it is the children who are in trouble., who lack love at home, affection and understanding.
If trouble happened, seek professional advice from a specialist (Get to know the work schedules of psychotherapists and psychologists, legal, medical).
