Всемирный день донора крови проводится каждый год 14 june. This commemorative date was established to, to:

• Raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood transfusion products;
• acknowledge the critical contributions of volunteers, donating blood for free, into national health systems;
• support the efforts of national blood transfusion services, donors and other non-governmental organizations to strengthen and expand voluntary blood donation programs by stepping up national and local campaigns.

The day also serves as an occasion to call on governments and national health authorities to allocate sufficient resources to scale up voluntary blood donation and ensure that blood supplies and transfusion services are accessible to all people in need..

Blood and its products are the most important resource, to help women effectively, who experience bleeding as a result of pregnancy and childbirth; children, suffering from severe anemia due to malaria and malnutrition; patients with diseases of the blood and bone marrow, impaired hemoglobin synthesis and immune deficiency; trauma victims, accidents, natural disasters and accidents; as well as patients, performing complex medical and surgical procedures. Blood is needed everywhere, but not everyone can get it everywhere. Blood shortages are particularly acute in low- and middle-income countries.

To ensure that safe blood is available to everyone who needs a blood transfusion, all countries must have donors, ready voluntarily, free and regular blood donation. Having an effective blood donation program, ensuring broad and active participation of the population, allows you to perform the necessary blood transfusions in a timely manner as in peacetime, as well as in times of emergency and natural disasters, when blood needs rise sharply or normal blood services are disrupted. The development of an effective blood donation program is greatly facilitated by a favorable social and cultural atmosphere of universal solidarity, while it is widely known, that the act of blood donation helps develop social bonds and strengthen social cohesion.

This year's campaign theme

IN 2022 r. World Blood Donor Day is celebrated under the slogan "Blood donation is an act of solidarity. Become a donor and save lives", which aims to draw attention to the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and strengthening solidarity in society.

The specific goals of this year's campaign are to, to:

• Express gratitude to blood donors around the world and raise awareness of the general public about the need to donate blood regularly and without compensation;
• remind donors of the need to donate blood systematically throughout the year, because it maintains an adequate supply of blood and enables timely and safe blood transfusion everywhere;
• recognize and promote the importance of voluntary non-remunerated blood donation in strengthening social solidarity and social cohesion;
• Raise awareness of the need to devote more public resources to building a stable and reliable national blood system and increasing the volume of donated and voluntary blood donations.

As a specific activity of this year's campaign, countries are encouraged to disseminate people's stories in various media, whose life was saved by donating blood, in order to motivate regular donors to continue donating blood and to encourage healthy people without donation experience to do so.

This year's World Blood Donor Day slogan can be promoted through other events, such as donor ceremonies, social media campaigns, thematic programs in the media, online publications with images of the slogan and representatives of the donor community, meetings and seminars, musical and artistic events in gratitude to donors and in support of solidarity, as well as highlighting the sights in red.
