Autism is not a widespread disease. The incidence of autism spectrum disorders is 0,6-1,0% of the total number of school-age children. Childhood autism occurs in 0,1% population. For the last 6 years (2005–2010 years) in Belarus the number of children, observed by psychiatrists, in the group of general developmental disorders increased in absolute numbers by 104,8% (from 251 to 514), including those diagnosed with ASD - on 76,2% (from 143 to 252).
